Settogatake (Yamanashi)

Settogatake 1710m is a short little hike with amazing views of Mount Fuji. This hike is perfect if you're in the Fuji five lakes area and want to get away from the masses at Kawaguchiko. The trail is up is a little steep but not too long and doable even for beginners.

Access
Trailhead starts behind Lake Saiko. There is free parking and toilets at the lake.
The bus stop is called Gyominsou and you can take the bus from Kawaguchiko station. It runs about once an hour and costs 710¥ one way.

Trail description
Start at the lake and cross the road. Walk up into the residential area and follow a small paved then gravel road past a small campground on the right.
It takes between 2-3h up through the forest and 1.5h back down. The trail is an easy forest trail but it's quite steep. You'll have beautiful views from the top and if you have more time or energy you can continue on the ridgline and make it a full dayhike.
